"Giving Birth
to Ourselves" Frame Drumming
Intensive,
Durham NC. "Giving Birth
To Ourselves" (GBTO) is Layne
Redmond's original landmark
in-depth series on the
tambourine and tar with rhythmic
techniques from the Middle East,
Azerbaijan, North Africa,
Brazil, and India. This is a
unique training of a musical
discipline within a spiritual
framework, exploring the
different strokes on the drum
and their connection to the
seven chakras. Originally
presented by Layne in six
weekends, GBTO 2009 is six
day-long workshops presented by
longtime Layne student
Farrunnissa, on the third
Saturdays of the month, May -
October 2009, at the Music
Explorium community room in
Durham. In order to attend GBTO,
you must have taken an
introductory workshop with Layne
or an Introduction to Frame
Drumming class with Farrunnissa.
For more information on
registering for GBTO, or on
attending an Intro class,
contact
Farrunnissa, 919 361-2383.
